There’s something to be said about hard work and determination. You may not always be as qualified as the next person, but if you stop making excuses and work really really hard you can succeed. Our last guest on the podcast, Omar Nasser, attributes a lot of his success to this “go getter” attitude.

Omar hasn’t always been the best student, but now he’s one of the top sales competitors in the country. His college career really turned around when he changed his mindset and wanted to make positive changes in his life. I think that everyone can take something away from Omar’s story which is why his story is so great.

Research has actually proven that talented people who find success have a growth mindset as opposed to a fixed mindset. People with fixed mindsets believe that their basic abilities and skills are fixed traits. On the other hand, people with a growth mindset believe their abilities will develop over time. These people constantly challenge themselves and grow.

The truth is that we really only grow when we seek out new opportunities and put ourselves in situations where we’re out of our comfort zone. You have to be confident in your abilities to grow and learn even if you’re not necessarily the smartest or most qualified in the room. By putting yourself in situations where you’re outside of your comfort zone, you have to be okay with confusion and set backs. You have to know that your hard work and dedication will pay off in the end.

This growth mindset is exactly what Omar has developed throughout his college career and he’s been very successful because of it. He was coachable and hungry and went after those big opportunities that set him apart from his peers. The good thing is that you all can do this too! You’re mindset is something that’s in your control. So believe in yourself, push yourself to be better, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it!
